The toss-away ending of Martyrs didn't begin to justify sadism the characters (or audience) were asked to endure. (Said as a fan of I Spit on Your Grave.) While the genre bending of the Burrowers was mildly interesting, the critters themselves were a bore and what little is seen of them is hardly inspired creature craftsmanship.
