Taber- Although its understandable that you don’t want to give your Oscar picks post the ceremony may I suggest that you do. There are some who watch these films after their theatrical releases on DVD. May I make a serious request that after seeing the films that you do present your observations and criticisms.

  2. Thomas Says:

I agree with crank! Fuck 3D! I live in a small town with only two screens, so if a movie is out there in 3D and normal, we’re only getting it in 3D. This has made me go see fewer movies, because I don’t want to put stuff on my face to watch a movie.

  3. Taber Says:

Below is my 2010 10 Best Movies of the year:

    10. Tucker & Dale vs. Evil
    9. Going the Distance
    8. Winter’s Bone
    7. Inception
    6. The Town
    5. Black Swan
    4. Let Me In
    3. The Social Network
    2. Toy Story 3
    1. Scott Pilgrim vs. the World

There are many honorable mentions as well: Despicable Me, How to Train Your Dragon, Legend of the Guardians, Tron: Legacy, The Illusionist, Youth In Revolt, The Crazies, and of course, Step Up 3D.

  4. Paul Says:

Did a film win Taber’s “Screw you, America” award for 2010?

  5. Taber Says:

Taber’s “Screw You, America” Award of 2010, easily goes to Scott Pilgrim. Nobody went to see it. Even Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore outgrossed it by more than $10 million. Screw You , America!

  6. luckymustard Says:

totally agree with you guys (mike & taber) on everything you said about tron: legacy.

  7. Dan Says:

Crank I wasn’t listening closely and at first thought the show intro was going to be Mastadon! Crank do you like Mastadon? Nice picks Taber.

  8. Joey (malpractice) Says:

very happy to hear Scott Pilgrim was your #1 Taber, such an under appreciated film on so many levels. nothing this year really came even close to it imo (Greenberg would be an incredibly close second). I need to write something about it at some point for Matinee Idles.

I was surprised Greenberg, Blue Valentine, Animal Kingdom, Cyrus, and Never Let Me Go didn’t make your list though.

agree on The Green Hornet as well, a far more subversive and entertaining film than i think it has been given credit for.

  9. crank! Says:

I’m unfamiliar with this Mastodon you speak of…

    crank!

  10. Taber Says:

    Joey,
I was contemplating Greenberg ( and accidentally omitted it from the Honorable Mentions above.) But unfortunately Blue Valentine, Animal Kingdom, Cyrus and Never Let Me Go, all fall under the “films I haven’t seen yet “category. I am eager to watch them all. However, I did just watch Revenge of the Ninja on Netflix streaming. 80’s audiences had a really high tolerance for sub-par ninja films, I must say. Half of them make no sense.

  11. Hatt Says:

    Spin-off! I would listen to a Tabercast.

I enjoyed listening guys, you’ve been on a really good roll of shows.

  12. erroll Says:

Loved Tron Legacy. Jeff Bridges was awesome! Just checked wikipedia:Budget $170 million, Gross revenue $344,934,900, that’s good right? Apparently a sequel has been greenlit-AWESOME!!!!

I agree with Crank and Thomas, fuck 3d, all it does is make the background blury (although no Imax here, so I would try it again at an Imax if given the oprotunity)

Totally agree with Hatt, TABERCAST!!! C’mon Taber get on that, there’s no such thing as too much Taber! He would need a good co-host (or co-hosts) though, podcasts are best when there conversational. Maybe the co-host(s) could focus on tv reviews, and one on games.

P.S. there’s a new ninja movie coming out called Alien vs Ninja where a group of ninja fight what looks like an evil alien dolphin…. Crank, you interested???

Anyways you guys have been on a roll lately, great episodes! Thanks guys!
